Black.White.Vivid. is a blog that celebrates food and travel, savouring adventures both at home and away.
My starting point with the visual language of this brand was blogger Kati’s beautiful, moody food photography. Her blog is full of sumptuous food and rich stories, so I developed an inspiration board and colour palette that paired deep blue and saffron yellow with muted, elegant tones of slate blue, grey and white, and a rich bronze foil texture to bring everything together. We wanted to evoke exotic spice markets and smokey alleyways full of street vendors, and focused on a gorgeous flowing logo script that works in several iterations and ties together with the bold sans serif font it is paired with. Kati was most drawn to a circular logo shape, so we evolved the initial design into a stamp with the initials as a flowing mark through the middle. After deciding that the primary logo needed a little more impact, the finished design also incorporates gold splashes and a swoop of watercolour blue to tie everything together. Once the logo was finalised, we went ahead and rounded out Kati’s brand with custom pattern designs, typographic word marks, watermark graphics for her photos, and a beautiful media kit template to send out to potential collaborations.
